Aspull Health and Wellbeing Centre, a multi-million pound healthcare development, has been given the green light, with construction of the new building set to start this autumn.
Aspull Health and Wellbeing Centre, a collaboration between Aspull GP Surgery, OneMedical Group, Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (WWL) and NHS Wigan Borough Clinical Commissioning Group, is set to combine the existing Aspull Clinic and Aspull GP Surgery on Haigh Road, replacing the current offering with a state-of-the-art health and wellbeing centre in the heart of the local community.
As well as providing a comprehensive range of healthcare services, including a modern GP surgery and pharmacy, Aspull Health and Wellbeing Centre has been designed to be environmentally friendly and sustainable to ensure inclusivity and accessibility for all patients. This design was achieved by working closely with Aspull Surgery and local stakeholders to create a building that is future-proofed and user-friendly to all.
The development, which is set for completion in Summer 2022, will be a phased process to enable current patients to continue to receive vital services throughout the programme.

“The new building will allow us to provide even more services to the local population of Aspull in a bespoke healthcare environment. Aspull Surgery and Partners would like to reassure patients that all our services will continue throughout the duration of the build.”

The new centre will house a number of services, including the GP practice and community services. The GP practice will remain open whilst building works are complete and the phlebotomy community services will move into the practice until the new building opens. During the build process, WWL’s phlebotomy Community Services will be based in a consulting room at Aspull Surgery, with podiatry services available at Longshoot Health Centre in Scholes, whilst the District Nurses service will be based at Chandler House within Worsley Mesnes Health Centre.
