Aspull Health and Wellbeing Centre opened its doors to surgery patients on Monday 13 February.

The new centre is an energy-efficient and sustainable building, which will now provide patients with more medical facilities and community amenities under one roof. Patients will also be welcomed to community clinics at the centre from the beginning of March.

The completed building will provide an opportunity for all to access services that will meet current and emerging health and wellbeing needs in an accessible and inclusive way.

It will also offer social and voluntary sector groups the opportunity to connect with the wider community by using the Elizabeth II room and community orchard.

What to expect from the new development

  • A new surgery site, community clinic and pharmacy will house multiple facilities and disciplines.
  • Future-proofed spaces that are multi-purpose and flexible.
  • Extended car park with disabled parking access, electric vehicle charging point, motorcycle and secure bicycle parking.
  • A focus on accessibility – all areas are easy to use by wheelchair users and those with mobility issues.
  • A bookable room for community use.
  • A new community orchard to encourage health and wellbeing and integrated landscaping for residents and staff to connect with nature and feel a sense of belonging.

The building will act as a hub and focal point for the benefit of all who live or work in the area, both for now and for the long term.

There’s more to come

Our focus will shortly move to the next stages of the project. The existing surgery building will be demolished in mid-February and we will create a new car park in its stead, due to open in April.

The community orchard facing the village green will be planted in early Spring with help from local schools and organisations.
