On 16 November 2022, Rosedean House Surgery, working with OneMedical Property, marked the first information event to share the initial proposals for the Rosedean House Surgery expansion project.

The expansion plans for the listed surgery building aim to provide a modern healthcare setting for the growing local population – including larger clinical spaces and facilities to improve patient access and flow.

This was an important opportunity for the Surgery to listen to patients’ and residents’ feedback while continuing to work collaboratively with OneMedical Property, local stakeholders, Liskeard Town Council, Cornwall Council and The NHS Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board to continue developing the proposal for the listed building.

Over 40 people came to the sessions, which ran throughout the afternoon, from 2pm until 8.30pm, including patients, residents, PPG members, staff from the surgery, local practices and the ICB, council representatives, and other local community members.

Rosedean House Surgery team and OneMedical Property shared the proposed artist impressions for the expansion plans with people who attended the information event. The plans are designed to work harmoniously alongside the wider regeneration project in the area by Liskeard Town Council and the Liskeard Cattle Market Steering Group.

The project team shared the proposed concepts for the new surgery throughout the information sessions and were keen to listen to feedback and answer any questions and queries those attending had. Feedback boards and a suggestion box were available and well used.

Participants were encouraged to share their feedback and views on the proposed concepts for the Rosedean House Surgery expansion project

Some of the feedback from patients, residents and members of the local community received to date is detailed below:

  • “This project keeps a listed building and its integrity, which is good.”
  • “Looks very good; natural light is something we would like to prioritise.”
  • “It will transform this area of the town.”
  • “The plans accommodate improved accommodation plans much needed for the staff and facilitate care for the increased population of the area.”
  • “The plans look very good, and I would like to see the project started as soon as possible.”
  • “This is a stunning project in the centre of Liskeard; a positive in keeping the old building with a modern functional build; great use of space, which looks light and airy with a quality feel. Liskeard will be lucky to have this.”
  • “Impressive outline plans – positives are easier access, safer access, and the design is sympathetic to the heritage building area.”

We’ve also taken on board all constructive feedback and suggestions regarding some of the design elements as part of the project’s progression.

The event welcomed staff from the surgery, local practices and the ICB, council representatives, and other local community members

Rachel Beverley-Stevenson, Co-Founder and Director of OneMedical Property, said: “We came away with a sense of positivity and excitement for the expanded surgery building, which will create a new health and wellbeing space for the whole town. We very much enjoyed our conversations with people at the event and would like to thank all those who took the time to join us and share their thoughts about the proposals. We’re looking forward to continuing to work with Rosedean House Surgery, Liskeard Town Council, Cornwall Council and the NHS Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board, alongside the people of Liskeard, to continue developing the scheme to deliver an improved health facility for the whole of the town and surrounding areas for the long term.”

Dr Penny Atkinson, GP Partner, Rosedean House Surgery, said: “We are delighted to be working with OneMedical Property to improve the facilities for our local population with a first-class modern health centre building.”

OneMedical Property and Rosedean House Surgery will review all the valuable feedback shared during the event and will continue to listen and take on board all views and queries over the coming weeks.
